lower harness mount fitting

i purchased some lower harness mounting plates and some eyebolts to fasten to the mounting plates which are welded to the chassis. i had to slightly trim the mounting plates to fit the mnr plates. once in place i had to drill holes through the mnr plates so the eye bolts could pass through and tighten up to the plates via there pre welded on bolts.these are a great solution for a strong lower harness mount!

another trial fit of bodywork section

i decided to make bonnet cut out for exhaust headers to fit under and also fit the carbonmods nose cone vent. i then placed them in position and they fit really well. am quite pleased with the way things are going so i thought i would share a few pics of how it looks at the moment!

i needed a remote filter kit as the steering shaft fouled the existing filter so i searched ebay and found this on there. will be fitting it over christmas period!

its on its wheels and out of the garage! yessss!

had a great day today and got the car on its wheels and out of the garage for the first ever time! to say im pleased is an understatement. i already had the front end down but had way too much droop in the middle due to the weight on the suspension,which meant taking out the shocks and winding them out to give me the extra ground clearence. i then torqued up the rear hub nuts, mounted rear discs and calipers.put on back wheels and pushed her outside.i thought i should take a few photos!

steering column, scuttle and dash mounting

i have also fitted the steering column,which just needed bolting to the mounting brackets, fastened the scuttle down with riv-nuts fastened into the top chassis rail and also mounted the s2000 cloccks to my scuttle. i had an alloy panel made up from a locostbuilders member but managed to put a big scratch in the face of it with a file whilst trying to widen out a hole for a rocker switch. (what an idiot). so i decided to bite the bullet and spray it with the yellow spray supplied by mnr, in case i mark the yellow chassis!

i have also managed to fit the near side rear wheel arch. i held it in position at first but was struggling to hold it up and mark fixing positions. i drilled a series of holes in the inside edge of the arch and luckily in the garage,there was a tub of grease which when sat on the rear wheel acted as a perfect guide and gave a perfect even spacing around the wheel! (who would have thought a tub of grease could be so handy.) once it was in position i drilled through the inner arch and through the side of the main body tub. then i removed the arch and inserted the 5mm riv-nuts into the pannel. then i offered the arch up to the pannel and fastened it with m5 bolts. making sure the wing piping was in position.

once the arch was fitted i decided to fit the rear light cluster. i drilled and grommeted the rear pannel for the wire and connecor plug to pass through, and drilled and fixed the cluster back using long m5 bolts with nuts and washers

although i have not been posting much lately i have been working away on the car most saturdays, i managed to get the exhaust manifold fitted, lambda probe in position and drilled and grometed through side pannel, and some heat wrap around the exhaust header pipes!
