progress has been slow at the moment due to a lack of time in the garage and also thae fact that im ready for my main bodywork section in order to properly mount front suspension and get the car on the ground. my bodywork is a dark green RAL 6009 and i think it will look good alongside the yellow chassis! i collected my bodywork last week so i have no excuses not to move forward with the build now.

  1. Dan,

Noticed you nreaking all your leftover bits on s2ki.co.uk :)

I have an S2000 and they are indeed wonderful cars.

However, as I feel you have gauged, having a fast road car is a little pointless such is the traffic and punishment for any type of 'fun'.

So like you I am thinking of removing the heart from my S2000 and then breaking the rest (a lot of the car was upgraded with expensive race parts so selling as a whole wouldn't really work).

    Few questions:

How did you remove the engine on your S2000? I am assuming you dropped the sub frame/gearbox mounts and lifted the car over the engine???

What MNR Vortx kit did you buy - RT+ or Super?

I noticed with the modules, a lot of the bumpf was Sierra based kit. Surely you can utilise the S2000 equipment? Engine, box (kinda obvious), propshaft?, diff?, driveshafts?, anything else???

Sorry to be asking lots, really love the build so far, and will be following with much interest!

    Thanks

    Ron

  2. sorry i never replied to this question a i didnt even know comments could be made. i think its a great choice of kit. the prolem is that not a great deal can be used from the s2000.
i have used engine, box, diff, wiring loom, steering wheel/column,clocks, aem ecu, hand brake lever, and shortened prop shaft.
you then need to modify a set of ford drive shafts (preferably bolt-ons from a cosworth to take the power) to fit the honda diff and sell the hoda drive shafts!
as for removing the motor,we lifted the front of the car as high as we could and lowered the engine and box (in one piece) onto a pair of wheel dollies and simply rolled it out! it took about half an hour to get it out and only about 15 minutes to get it into the mnr. it fits perfectly in the mnr chassis and bonnet fits with no scoop.
any more questions, feel free to ask. dan!
